When Satoru wakes up from his coma, Kayo has married Hiromi, taken his surname, and has recently given birth to a son, Mirai seen when she visits Satoru at the hospital. By befriending Kayo and making sure that she ceased being a loner, Satoru made her a very difficult target for the kidnapper. Her life was saved due to Satoru's attempt to stop the kidnapper through his 'Revival' powers.
